Perth Poetry Club has wonderful poet Caitlin Maling, plus open-mike, this Saturday 26th October, 2pm-4pm at The Moon Café and on Zoom.

Caitlin Maling is a Fremantle poet whose previous collections, Conversations I’ve Never Had (2015), Border Crossing (2017) and Fish Song (2019) were published by Fremantle Press to great acclaim.

A fourth collection, Fish Work, was released in 2021 after being highly commended in the 2020 Dorothy Hewett Awards with UWA Press.

Her latest collection, Spore or Seed published by Fremantle Press in 2023, is a collection that charts Caitlin’s experiences on becoming and being a mother, and so much more besides.

In 2019 Caitlin was awarded her doctorate in literature from University of Sydney. Her poetry and non-fiction has been published widely through Australia, the US and the UK. She is the previous recipient of the Marten Bequest in poetry and grants from the Australia Council and the Department of Culture and the Arts, Western Australia.

Her work has been published in Australian Poetry, Best Australian Poetry, Westerly, Island, Meanjin, Threepenny Review, Green Mountains Review, Australian Book Review, Prairie Schooner and The Australian among others. A previous recipient of the John Marsden Poetry Prize, in 2014 she was shortlisted for the Judith Wright Poetry Prize and won the Harri Jones Memorial Prize of the Newcastle Poetry Prize.

Caitlin grew up in and around Fremantle. Since then she has lived around Australia, the US and the UK. She now teaches creative writing at Curtin University in Perth and keeps very busy as a much in demand poet.
