Saturday 8th July, Van Su Yun (Singapore) & Judith Huang + open-mike, at The Moon Cafe, on Zoom!

Perth Poetry Club has wonderful poets Van Su Yun (Singapore) & Judith Huang + open-mike this Saturday 8th July, 2pm-4pm at The Moon Café and on ZOOM.

Van Su Yun …This being her 3rd feature with Perth Poetry Club, Su Yun is facing difficulty finding space in this bio to fit her ego, but is determined to make room.

Having written sporadically since childhood, Su Yun began her foray into spoken poetry at Perth Poetry Club – hence a living tarnation was unwittingly unleashed upon the world of poetry. She has since unearthed an outstanding talent in literary pretentiousness – adopting an unnecessary (and now infamous) moniker “Syvan” among poetry peers in recent times; indulging in writing enough melodrama to be selected for Poetry On The Move 2020 by the Centre for Creative and Cultural Research in the Faculty of Arts and Design, University of Canberra; and spouting travesties under the guise of witty lyricism, which inexplicably earned her 1st runner-up in the Singapore WordForward Survivor Slam Nov 2022.

While inclined towards introspective writing, Su Yun greatly admires and tries to emulate light-heartedness and humour in poetry, to questionable success. She endeavours to experiment with a broad variety of subjects, structures, and diction – because it is the easiest way to pretend she has any sort of writing ability.
