Saturday 20th of February, meet Daniel Oxenburgh.
Daniel Oxenburgh (also known as Snoop Bilby) is a multi-talented WA poet.
His poetry has been illustrated by Alexander Hayes and published as a book “Quicksilver” with an exhibition at Gomboc Gallery in 2002. He has written poetry to accompany two photography exhibitions by Angus Skene “Formations Creatures Land and Sea” in 2010 and “Kimberley Expressions” in 2011. You can also read his poetry in The Australian Writers’ Journal 1993,1994 and Uneven Floor 2014.
Daniel was Feature Poet at Perth Poetry Club in June 2010, and again in February and November 2014. In November 2015 he was a state finalist in the W.A heats of the Australian Poetry Slam, and in December 2015 published his second book of poetry “Wrong Way Up” which was illustrated by Giles Graham.
In 2008 he won the “Western Australian Environment Award for Small Business Leading by Example” for his work in natural garden products and re-vegetation.
Really though, he spends most of his time whipper snipping, buying lotto tickets, kicking lawnmowers and talking to magpies about the latest in black and white fashions. His love of gardening, respect for nature and our sometimes disrespect inform his poetry.
We advise that a trip to Bunnings will never be the same again. Please journey to the Moon Café, 323 William Street Northbridge this Saturday 2pm-4pm to find out why.
Next week (27th February 2016) it is the Recoil-7 zine launch where some of the favourite features from 2015 will be reading.
