Saturday 11th of November, John McBain!

This Saturday, it’s John McBain as our feature on 11th November 2017 at Perth Poetry Club.

John McBain regards himself as a bush poet (story-teller) but he is difficult to categorise as he also is a film maker and has a long history in practical and theoretical (policy) sustainability e.g. urban food production.

John was raised in a farming family before going to Perth for education, gaining a Bachelor of Commerce degree at UWA.  After a year in the corporate world he returned to the land where he was a practitioner of sustainable agriculture. During the nineties he attended international conferences such as the Earth Summit, focusing on Food Security and Sustainable Agriculture.  Since moving back to Perth he has spent more than a decade practically researching and refining methods of sustainable food growing.  He has had long association with First Nations' peoples and was invited into lore and culture in the Pilbara.

This rich life has informed his poetry.  Please join us to hear John McBain this Saturday afternoon 2pm-4pm at the Moon Café, 323 William Street Northbridge.  This Saturday also is Remembrance Day so expect some of the open mike poems to reflect on WW1.
