Saturday 25th March, Carolyn Abbs & Natalie Damjanovich-Napoleon + open-mike! at The Moon Cafe

Perth Poetry Club has wonderful poets Carolyn Abbs & Natalie Damjanovich-Napoleon + open-mike this Saturday 25th March 2pm-4pm at The Moon Café.

Carolyn Abbs’s debut collection The Tiny Museums published with UWAP (2017) was previously H/Commended in the Dorothy Hewett Award for an unpublished manuscript.  Her poems appear in Westerly, Cordite, Rabbit, Best Australian Poems 2014, Australian Poetry Journal, Axon: Creative Explorations, Anthology of Australian Prose Poetry, Australian Book Review and various other journals.  She has won the Visible Ink, Creatrix, and KSP Poetry prize, a recent finalist for the joanne burns Award and placed in other competitions.  Her PhD is from Murdoch University where she taught in the School of Arts for a number of years.  She is currently working towards a second collection.

Natalie Damjanovich-Napoleon is a writer and educator who is currently completing a Creative Writing PhD on erasure poetry and forgotten histories.  Her experimental and free verse poetry has appeared in Cordite, Meanjin, Australian Poetry Journal and Writer's Digest.  She has won the Bruce Dawe Poetry Prize (2018) and KSP Poetry Prize (2019).  She has taught writing workshops in the US and Australia and helped run a volunteer poetry reading series, Voicebox.  Her debut poetry collection First Blood was released in 2019.  Her second poetry book, If There Is a Butterfly That Drinks Tears, will be released in 2023 by Life Before Man Books.

There will NOT be an independent open-mike Zoom meeting from Brisbane by Elio at the same time as the Moon gig.  Apologies for that as Elio's mum is in the final stages of life this weekend.
