Ronald Araña Atilano is a Filipino-born poet who lives in Awabakal land in Lake Macquarie, NSW. His works have been featured in the Rabbit Poetry Journal, Cordite, Westerly Magazine, Island Magazine Online, The Marrow Poetry Journal, Australian Poetry Journal Digital amongst others. ‘New Ordinance for the Dead’, his bilingual book of poetry in English and Filipino, has recently been published by Flying Islands.
Biddle has been performing in Boorloo for almost half of his life. During this journey of trying to find out what’s stuck in his diaphragm Biddle has competed in the Australian Slams, completed the WA Emerging Writers Program, has two books rolling to be published by Gazebo's Life Before Man next year, and is running a monthly poetry open mic with music improv event in the rechabite basement! Biddle’s work balances quick witted humour and sharp tongued anguish while discussing biographical themes like what makes hope? And what happens when you eat 6 apples in a row?
Squid is a 16 year old migrant poet from Japan. He focuses on the importance of speaking up and testing the limits of society, Squid believes in the power of words and the beauty of the ugliness within us all. He talks about LQBTQ, racism, and trauma from the perspective from a teenager exploring the paths of high school. His work creates a statement against the cruel reality and nature of the world, never skipping the pains. From performing at the Rosemount and wining 1st place, to Lyricz and Linez, and even cancer awareness performances. Squid takes every nasty, ugly, horrible moment and forms them into a lyric to change the way the world may see a troubled teen.
