Jaya Penelope is a poet, oral storyteller and self-confessed fairytale nerd who lives in Walyalup/Fremantle on Whadjuk Noongar Boodja. Jaya began her poetry career as a performance poet and ran the Woven Words and Sheela na Gig poetry readings back in the early 2000s. In recent years Jaya’s poetry and haiku have been shortlisted or won prizes in the KSP Poetry Prize, Poetry d’Amour, Heroine’s Women’s Writing Anthology and Grieve. Her first poetry collection is (hopefully) forthcoming within the next 12 months after the longest gestation ever. The spoken word remains her first love.
Samuel Field is a poet and songwriter whose work has been described as ‘Philosophy dressed in poetry’, a label he leans into, often writing to spiritual, emotional and connection existential exploration. His books include “Coupling”, “Surrendering to Love”, "Becoming Unbroken”, “I Msg My Ex’ and ‘Modern Psalms Book One’. His work can provoke reflection and one of his favourite reviews included “You gave me words for emotions I hadn’t realised I had”.
