has wonderful poets Caroline Reid (SA) & Glen Hunting (NT) + open-mike
at The Moon Café, 323 William Street Northbridge & on ZOOM.
Caroline will be appearing via Zoom. Glen will be in the room.
Caroline Reid found her feet as a writer in theatre and has gone on to develop a diverse writing and performance practice. She has represented SA twice in the Australian Poetry Slam and been awarded a number of prizes including the Mslexia International Poetry Prize for a single poem and second prize for the 2022 Poetry Book Award (UK) for her hybrid collection SIARAD (ES-Press 2020).
Caroline migrated to Western Australia with her family from Wales in the seventies, grew up in Kalgoorlie, and cites Kevin Bloody Wilson as her most important literary influence. Her work has been described as a mash-up of internet searches, fucked-up secrets and heartbreaking lies. She lives in Tarndanya/Adelaide is currently obsessed with writing about her mother.
In time-honoured tradition, Glen Hunting is a mostly-ignored poet engaged in the mostly-Sisyphean task of Trying Not To Suck At Poetry. While he struggles to compose hard-hitting verses before saturating the pages with tears of frustration, a few of his words can be found, palely loitering, in Rochford Street Review, London Grip New Poetry, Portside Review, Brushstrokes V and VI, and even early Covid-era issues of Meniscus and Plumwood Mountain Journal.
