Perth Poetry Club has wonderful poet Rita Tognini
+ the Launch of Glen Phillips’ Slings & Arrows VII, with Glen Phillips

Rita Tognini is a Western Australian writer of poetry and short fiction. She lives in Perth but was born in Italy. Her poetry has been published in journals and collections nationally and overseas and has won prizes and commendations, in particular, second prize in the 2015 Katharine Susannah Prichard Writers’ Centre Poetry Awards and third prize for the 2015 Peter Cowan Writers Centre Poetry Prize. She was selected for the WA 2018 Emerging Writer Program and completed a collection of short stories as part of the program.

Glen Phillips’ Slings & Arrows VII is also titled When the Last Leaf Falls, introduced as “yet another fifty irreverent but picante poems”. The book is edited by Trevor Todd, and to be launched by Elio Novello, (short and sharp speech assured). This is the seventh in the series, and the poems are written to be read out loud. Some are daft. Some are comical. Some serious. You’ll only know if you are there.
Dr Glen Phillips is a poet, painter and professor, born Southern Cross, in 1936. He has taught literature and writing all his working life and is currently chair of the International Centre for Landscape and Language at Edith Cowan University’s Mt Lawley campus. He has published some 90 books and chapbooks, including his Collected Poems, 2008 and some 50 other poetry collections. His Landscapes have been exhibited in Australia and China and many are featured in his books. His most recent book of poetry is “To Islands”, ICLL, 2024, introduced by Will Yeoman.
