this Saturday 28th June, 2pm-4pm, at The Moon Café, 323 William Street Northbridge and on ZOOM.
Kay Cairns is an Irish Australian poet and teacher based in Perth. She grew up during ‘the troubles’ in Northern Ireland, and studied English, French and Russian literature at Queen’s University of Belfast. A past winner of the Tom Collins Poetry Prize, her work has been published in Quadrant and in several Australian poetry anthologies.
Kay’s poetry draws largely on her personal lived experience, and explores strong emotional responses to people and places. Her debut collection Between Two Skies was published by Walleah Press in 2024 and her current collection was shortlisted by both Five Islands Press and Flying Islands Press. She is the current convenor of the Poetic Voices group at the Peter Cowan Writers’ Centre in Joondalup.
