This Saturday 31st July 2pm-4pm we have wonderful poet Allan Padgett + open-mike at the Moon Café and on Zoom.
Allan Padgett is a Western Australian poet living in Perth. He has been published in a range of journals and loves hanging out with fellow poets, particularly at The Moon Café where Perth Poetry Club conducts its weekly gabfest. He has always loved poems, and with caring, deeply-knowledgeable teachers all the way through thirteen years of schooling in Victoria he had the benefit of learning from those who know. Nowadays, Allan is entranced, educated, comforted and encouraged by the magic images spilling from our vast reservoir of poetic talent in WA (& around Australia & the World via Zoom).
Allan’s first volume of poetry, Lumbering Towards Infinity, was self-published in May 2021. His poems are a curious mixture of deadly serious and its opposites, including very silly, ironical, political, self-digging/deprecating, loving, dogdom, birdworlds and so on. He loved it back in the good old days around ten years ago when he was referred to as a larrikin. Perhaps ageing has diminished this rare trait, but he is hoping the damage is minimal.
