Saturday 27th June, Peter Burges and Cath Drake (UK) + open-mike VIA ZOOM

This Saturday 27th June we have two wonderful poets Peter Burges and Cath Drake (UK) + open-mike VIA ZOOM.

We apologise we are not at the Moon Café but we will be via ZOOM.

The Zoom session is on Saturday, 27th June 2:00pm to 4:00pm Perth Aus WST (GMT+8hrs).

Peter Burges is an eclectic reader (history, politics, biographies, fiction, science fiction, fantasy, crime, religious texts, cross-cultural issues, etc.), and has a long term goal of becoming a writer (of poetry, short stories and novels) - through slow-turning days is his first poetry collection (2019), and has a second working its way through the presses as you read.

Peter is part of the Voicebox collective, and has been recently featured on Fremantle Shipping News – an online magazine all about Freo. Noteworthy by Peter was a performance of two long poems at the club in 2019, Glitterband and The Notification, poems for four readers each.

Cath Drake is an Australian poet, nonfiction writer and journalist living in London. Her first full poetry collection ‘The Shaking City’ was published by Seren Books in 2020. It follows ‘Sleeping with Rivers’ which won the Seren/Mslexia poetry pamphlet prize and was a Poetry Book Society choice. She was included in Best Australian Poetry 2014. Cath has won two Arts Council England awards and a residency at The Katharine Susannah Prichard (KSP) Writer's Centre in Australia.

Cath has been short-listed for the Venture Poetry Prize and the Manchester Poetry Prize, and was second in the 2017 Resurgence Poetry School eco-poetry prize (now called Ginkgo) and highly commended in 2019. She teaches writing in the UK and Australia – and online for linking up her two countries. She is an award-winning journalist and nonfiction writer who has created radio documentaries and newspaper columns for over a decade in Australia, winning the Alex Harris Medal for Science and Environment Writing, CSIRO Award for Excellence in Science Journalism and Greening Western Australia Community Awareness Award for Communications. Cath also teaches mindfulness.     Twitter @cathdrake      https://cathdrake.com/writing-to-buoy-us/
