Saturday 17th April, Barry Sanbrook and Ross Jackson + open-mike! at the Moon & on Zoom

This Saturday 17th April 2pm-4pm we have the wonderful poets Barry Sanbrook, Ross Jackson + open-mike at the Moon Café and on Zoom.

Barry Sanbrook is artist and poet, and haiku afficionado; being judge and selector for the Creatrix Haiku Prize and Anthology 2020 and active member and contributor to Haiku societies locally and nationally.

His family history appears on the Welcome Walls project, Fremantle; having migrated in 1968.  Barry has Engineering and Arts degrees, and that has informed his work as poet and artist.

Saturday 10th April, Skylar J Wynter + open-mike! at the Moon on Zoom

This Saturday 10th April 2pm-4pm we have the wonderful poet Skylar J Wynter + open-mike at the Moon Café and on Zoom.

Skylar J Wynter is the best-selling author of a collection of poetry and flash fiction entitled, Pieces of Humanity which is to be included in the Hollywood Swag Bag Nominee Gift Honoring Oscar Weekend goodie bags gifted to the Academy Award nominees this year.

Saturday 3rd April, Colin Young + Mega Open-Mike at the Moon and Zoom!

This Saturday 3rd April 2pm-4pm we have the wonderful poet Colin Young + our second Mega Open-mike for 2021 at the Moon Café and on Zoom.

Colin Young is the poet-offspring of an orc and an elf.  The world is a labyrinth, and there’s a minotaur waiting around every corner.  He hopes that his poetry can entertain and connect with people.  He’s been published in Recoil 10, Ros Spencer Poetry Anthology 2019, Poetry d’Amour 2019, Grieve journal 2020, the book Becoming Known in 2020, and won First Prize in the Creatrix 2020 award.

Saturday 27th March, Recoil-12 zine Launch + open-mike! at the Moon and on Zoom

This Saturday 27th March 2pm-4pm we have the RECOIL TWELVE zine launch + regular open-mike at the Moon Café and on Zoom.

RECOIL TWELVE (R-12) is an anthology published by Mulla Mulla Press (Coral Carter) and it celebrates the previous year’s poetry at Perth Poetry Club. Each year, 10 to 12 poets are selected and one of their poems is published in a Recoil zine.

Saturday 20th March, David Ellis and Ben Riddle + open-mike! at the Moon Cafe and Zoom

This Saturday 20th March 2pm-4pm we have wonderful poets David Ellis and Ben Riddle + open-mike, at the Moon Café and via Zoom.

Originally from the UK, David Ellis arrived in Perth nearly 50 years ago.  He is best known as a chess player, having been West Australian champion three times as well as West of England champion.  He has written a weekly chess column for the West Australian for the past 25 years and has received the Australian Chess Federation's medal for outstanding work as a journalist.

This Saturday 13th March 2pm-4pm we have wonderful poets Chaucer Cameron (UK) and Clare Reid + open-mike, at the Moon Café and via Zoom.

Chaucer Cameron - Chaucer’s poetry has been published in journals, magazines and anthologies, including: Under the Radar, Poetry Salzburg, and The North 63.  Chaucer is creator of Wild Whispers, an international poetry film project, and regularly curates and presents poetry- film at events and festivals.  Chaucer is co-editor of the online magazine Poetry Film Live.

This Saturday 6th March 2pm-4pm WA Poets Inc have WOMAN SCREAM - Perth’s peak poetry event marking International Woman’s Day.

Featuring Taonga Sendama, Rashida Murphy, Jaya Penelope, Barbara Stapleton, Manveen Kohli, Fiona Free, Luka Buchanan and more.

All funds raised go to Starick Women’s Refuge.

There is no open-mike, but great features to entertain you. The venue is Moon Café, 323 William St, Northbridge and on ZOOM.
