These days, most poets don't write haiku in the traditional seventeen syllable format, either in Japan or the West. It's the spirit of the poem that matters most: the subtly transcendent nature of the experience, expressed as briefly as possible, and with no (or very little) poeticism or abstraction outside what the five senses are open to. Discover contemporary haiku techniques (and the spirit of them!) in this workshop with Matt Hetherington, who has been writing haiku for over 25 years, and teaching haiku and poetry for over a decade.
