Perth Poetry Club has wonderful poet Rita Tognini plus open-mike this Saturday 17th August, 2pm-4pm at The Moon Café and on ZOOM.
Rita Tognini writes poetry and short fiction. She was born in Italy, grew up in the South West, worked as a teacher and public servant and travelled widely in Europe and China.
Among the themes she likes to explore in her writing are the relationship of language and identity, the intersection of the personal and the political and the consolations and constrictions of family ties.
Her work has been published in local, national and international journals and has won prizes and commendations. In 2018 Rita was selected for the Peter Cowan Writers’ Centre Emerging Writer Program.
Rita will be reading from her first poetry collection, Almost Like Home. The following is a sample of what others have said about this wonderful work. Almost Like Home is a poised collection of intelligence, sensory vivacity and ongoing curiosity. Almost Like Home illuminates that when we change homelands, we expand identity and perspective, ways of understanding both the self and the world, become someone new.
Almost Like Home will be available for purchase at the reading ($25.00) and credit card facilities will be available.
Open-mike as usual.
