Saturday 11th February, John Keats special + open-mike!, at The Moon, on Zoom

Perth Poetry Club this Saturday 11th February 2023, 2pm-4pm has a special feature,

JOHN KEATS – his life, poetry and controversy,  presented by Linda Anderson and Elio Novello, + open-mike at The Moon, on Zoom.

John Keats died young (25 years old) before truly reaching his peak as a poet.

We will explore his life, his study to be a surgeon, his poetry, its savage criticism, his criticism of others’ poetry, his love life, and his death.

Also what do Newton and the Rolling Stones have to do with Keats?  You will have to be there at the Moon, on Zoom, to find out.

You will hear excerpts from letters and excerpts from the following poems: On Death    To Autumn    On Peace     Devon Maid      To Some Ladies

Give me women, wine, and snuff      Hush, hush! tread softly!     Ode To Fanny     Sleep and Poetry     To Lord Byron

A thing of beauty is a joy for ever (from Endymion)       Bright Star     Ode to a Grecian Urn    &    Adonais (by Percy Shelley)

We will have regular open-mike as well.  Please bring your poems to share.  If you wish to read your favourite Keats poem, please do that but remember open-mike is 3-minutes max each.  Also don’t be afraid if someone reads the poems that you were to read, please read it in any case – imagine you are doing a cover version with each rendition unique.

Please join us this Saturday afternoon,   2pm - 4pm,   Perth Aus WST (GMT+8hrs).

at The Moon Café, 323 William St, Northbridge and on ZOOM.

                             Join Zoom Meeting: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/84254037443

You will have to wait for Zoom to do its thing. You will need to be let into the meeting from the Waiting Room.  Please be patient. It may not work straight away.  Try again.  If that fails email Elio on eliopoet@gmail.com
