Saturday 16th April, William Huang & Jo Giles + open-mike, at the Moon on Zoom!

Perth Poetry Club this Saturday 16th April has wonderful poets William Huang & Jo Giles + open-mike, via ZOOM and at THE MOON CAFÉ.

William Huang is a writer living in Boorloo/Perth.  He is fascinated by how physical spaces can be conduits for imagination, enjoys the process of creative exploration and is prone to daydreams.  Themes such as memory, understanding and communication emerge in his poetry, which frequently draw on distinctive states of mind…

Jo Giles is a gender abolitionist who lives in a converted old grain carriage at the bottom of Ross’ garden on Whadjuk Nyoongar land in Hamilton Hill.  In her/their spare time they perfect the craft of knitting, crochet, macrame and tatting, collecting sticks, discussing philosophy with Butcher Birds and Magpies and practising tai chi.  Jo writes flash fiction and autobiographical poetry and is a regular contributor to Perth Slam.  In 2021 Jo surprised themselves by qualifying as a finalist in the WA final of Slam.  Since then they have been practising their stage craft and writing poetry that discusses issues around ‘cripness’, disability and chronic illness.  Jo is a bilateral lung transplant recipient and a person with Cystic Fibrosis which is very much a part of her voice and identity.

Please join us to celebrate poetry this Saturday afternoon 2pm - 4pm.

The venue is Moon Café, 323 William St, Northbridge and on ZOOM.
