Saturday 29th May, Eddie O'Meara + Nathalie Sallegren (Finland) + open-mike! at the Moon & via Zoom

This Saturday 29th May 2pm-4pm we have wonderful poets Eddie O’Meara + Nathalie Sallegren (Finland) + open-mike at the Moon Café and on Zoom.

Eddie O’Meara is an artist and a poet who emigrated from Dublin, Ireland in 1989 at the age of 8.  He has been writing poetry for about 6 years now and has been coming to ppc for about 2.  He has struggled with mental illness since he was 26 and for too long a time could not connect with anything or anyone until he finally found poetry by accident one day and it truly turned his life around and that has resulted in his struggles becoming that which he can now handle and he now experiences a great of progression in a world in which he was once lost.

Joyce, Dostoevsky and Kafka are huge influences on his life as well as van Gogh, Kurt Cobain, Eminem, Thom Yorke and Lou Reed.. . his poetry can be quite cryptic but it is all a representation of what he has learnt since the first time he fell in love... he hopes you enjoy it.

Nathalie Sallegren (Gnattie) is an Australian poet living in Finland.  In her real life she infiltrates Finnish society by sitting on boards for regional literature and culture & is also an immigration advisor for the local city.  She has her own education business and teaches info literacy & English.  Her prior life she was a librarian at ECU & Subiaco, among other places.

Her formative years were in PNG, and has French and British origins.  Published recently in anthologies in Adelaide and the UK, the poet performs regularly online on the international circuit.  Prior to the pandemic, Gnattie headlined in Helsinki, Turku and regularly in her region; also performing off the Fringe in Adelaide on a trip home in 2020.  Semi-finalist in The Finnish National Poetry Slam 2018, she then actively organized events regularly in Finland, such as Message Stick, Poetry Nights in Ekenäs, Festival events & CLUB XN.

With a BA in (English/Theatre) from Edith Cowan University, she also trained at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) in Perth.  Nathalie (aka Gnattie)’s work dissects culture-shock, disconnection and the vulgarity of small-mindedness.      see more about Gnattie on         IG @gnattie75        https://gnattie.blogspot.com/
