This Saturday 20th March 2pm-4pm we have wonderful poets David Ellis and Ben Riddle + open-mike, at the Moon Café and via Zoom.
Originally from the UK, David Ellis arrived in Perth nearly 50 years ago. He is best known as a chess player, having been West Australian champion three times as well as West of England champion. He has written a weekly chess column for the West Australian for the past 25 years and has received the Australian Chess Federation's medal for outstanding work as a journalist.
For David poetry has been a near lifetime interest, especially humorous writings. The virus lockdown provided an opportunity to put together some of his writings over the past 45 years combined with new material to create at the age of 80 his first book, Naughty Nonsense, Lascivious Limericks and Much More. Other interests include music and he has collaborated as an accompanist with both a singer and a choir to produce CD's. Another interest is sport and he played cricket until 50.
Ben Riddle has been writing and performing for almost ten years now. His work has been published in Europe, Australia and the United States, and he has played stages on both sides of Australia, as well as internationally. These days, he mostly writes in his room, and mutters under his breath on buses.
The venue is Moon Café, 323 William St, Northbridge and on ZOOM.
