This Saturday 10th October 2pm-4pm we have wonderful poets Mar Bucknell + Richard Hartley and open-mike at Perth Poetry Club, VIA ZOOM and at THE MOON CAFÉ.

Mar Bucknell has been performing poetry since 1978.

Published With No Apology (1980), sketches towards an end of the desire to describe (1984), minikins (2010), Laments (2011), How to Make an Island (2011).

Performed poetry with noise bands The Magick Trousers, Car Crash Face, and Catastrophe.

Presented large scale cycles of poems Without Weapons (with ACR and Ashley Higgs, 1996), Reinventing Silence (by Garrick Tippett, 1997), Unawares (2000 and 2001) and The History of Glass (2008).

His poetry is included in The Turnrow Anthology of Contemporary Australian Poetry (2014) and the Fremantle Press Anthology of Western Australian Poetry (2017).

Richard Hartley has spent his life in the entertainment industry. In the early 70's, he toured America from Chicago to Miami, from Denver to Detroit playing rock and roll piano, as "the most righteous Reverent Dick Diamond" with the 50's revival band Little Ziggy and the Zeu Revue. He has backed B.J. Thomas and appeared on the bill with Bo Didley, Curtis Mayfield, Blood Sweat and Tears, Mickey Rooney and Bozo the Clown.

In Australia, Richard studied Film and Television, Theatre Arts and Design at the Western Australian Institute of Technology. He has worked in theatre as a producer; set, lighting and sound designer; stage, road and tour manager; at the Perth Entertainment Centre, the Burswood Casino, His Majesty's Theatre, the Hole in the Wall, the Playhouse, and with the Western Australian Department for the Arts. He has had the opportunity to produce shows starring Warren Mitchell, Eric Sykes, Jimmy Edwards, Tim Brooke-Taylor and Judy Nunn, and to work with Joan Sydney and Robyn Nevin.

More recently, he has played with local bands such as Red House. the Alamo and Reelin' and Rockin', owned the franchised Gatehouse Gift Shop in the Fremantle Prison Heritage Precinct and the Primaries accommodation on Stayz. Now retired, he is keeping his hand in on the music scene and with on-line business and writing.

The venue is Moon Café, 323 William St, Northbridge. A great place to be this Saturday afternoon 2pm-4pm.
