Saturday 12th October, Raihanaty A Jalil + Priya Kahlon!

This Saturday 12th October we have Raihanaty A Jalil + Priya Kahlon featuring at Perth Poetry Club + regular open-mike.

Raihanaty A Jalil is an avid Jane Austen reader who spent her childhood lost in her vivid imagination, playing out made-up characters in her backyard.  She considers herself a jack of all trades and has led an interesting life, taking on a variety of roles including poet, high-school teacher, rapper and speaker.  She participated in Centre for Stories’ Indian Ocean Mentoring Project and was on a panel during Perth Festival Writers Week 2019.  She has facilitated poetry workshops at the Australian Islamic College for Propel Youth Arts WA.  She currently sits on the board for Centre for Stories.

Born and raised in Perth, Western Australia, Priya Kahlon is an emerging Australian poet whose work has featured in The Tiger Moth Review and Enchanting Verses Literary Review.  Priya's poetry explores the ideas of identity, belonging and the use of language to break free from the structure and expectations of modern society.
