Saturday 14th September, Mike Williams!

This Saturday 14th September we have the wonderful poet Mike Williams and open-mike at Perth Poetry Club.

Mike Williams writes poetry and fiction. His two novels, Old Jazz and The Music of Dunes were published by Fremantle Press and he has poetry and short fiction published in various literary journals, including the First Australian Haiku Anthology.

Mike organised poetry readings around Perth and Fremantle for several years, kicking off in the late 80s (pre-PPC and pre-Voicebox), and published Navigations – an occasional broadsheet publication for local poets in the 90s.

Mike was born in England in 1948 and came to Australia in 1963. He has had a variety of occupations including working in a bookshop in Perth, a good job for a wordsmith. Awards include the Western Australian Premier’s Book Award (Shortlisted 2006).
