Saturday 31st August, Jane Davis, Kaya Lattimore, Larraine Duncan!

This Saturday 31st August we have three wonderful poets Jane Davis, Kaya Lattimore + Larraine Duncan and open-mike at Perth Poetry Club.

Jane Davis started writing very young.  Her father often wrote moving and humorous poems in his children’s birthday cards and he was her first inspiration.  More recently, her brother’s loss sparked an outpouring of material dealing with this sudden trauma.  She intends to reveal more of her personal work in the hope others realise that sharing is an imperative step towards healing.  Her pieces are bursts of emotion, questions and reflections.

Born in 1981 in Perth, Jane then spent most of her childhood in the coastal town of Bremer Bay. The ocean is still her favourite place to reflect.

Kaya Lattimore is a Filipinx-Australian writer and spoken word poet.  As a mestiza and immigrant womxn, her writing obsessions include diaspora, family histories, racial identity, and language.  Her poetry has appeared in Not Very Quiet, Australian Multilingual Writing Project, amberflora zine and Djed Press, among others.

Kaya has performed her poetry in open mics and poetry slams in Hobart, Canberra, and now, Perth.

Larraine Duncan has been interested in words for as long as she can remember.  Larraine started writing poetry back in the 70's.  She had a column in a Community Newspaper; as a drama writer had two of her scripts staged; and written various short stories.  But she realised that her most happy expression of these words was in poetry.

Larraine has had haiku published in Paper Wasp and poetry published in Creatrix.  She self-published her poetry book, Dancing with Seasons, in 2014.  Now living in Bali (4 years), where she continues with her love of words by learning Indonesian and also continuing to create poetry.

Join us this Saturday afternoon 2pm - 4pm at the Moon Café, 323 William Street Northbridge to celebrate with  Jane Davis,  Kaya Lattimore,  Larraine Duncan + open-mike at Perth Poetry Club.
