Saturday 27th July, Allan Padgett!

This Saturday 27th July we have the wonderful poet Allan Padgett and open-mike at Perth Poetry Club.

Allan Padgett is a poet from Perth as much as an escapee from the workforce and places further east, a man who likes his carrots hot and buttered, and his milk shaken, stirred and NOT bloody pasteurised – just like his poems, which range from grief over losing best mates including dogs, to rapturous ejaculations over singing honeyeaters and praying mantids, to getting stuck into the insanity of our world, especially the wasted opportunities, lies, evasions, posturing, obfuscating, deviant, hate-filled behaviours of those in power, whether in politics or business or church. Or whatever.

While his poems often express outrage and anger, much of it in weeping words about and around natural diversity already gone as our multivalent biology is strangled, they are more likely to be silly, rambling, rapturous expositions of time and place, often dwelling inside the mind of birds. Sometimes, even, his poems contain profanity and more than a hint of sex. And more than a few hints of who he is really is, and of how his past came to shape the Old Bastard he has become.

All the above with our usual open mike as well...

Join us this Saturday afternoon 2pm - 4pm at the Moon Café, 323 William Street Northbridge to celebrate with Allan Padgett + open-mike at Perth Poetry Club.
