This Saturday 15th December 2018 we have our last gig for the year with two wonderful poets, Julie Watts + Gabriel O’Sullivan
and open-mike and announcement of The CHRiku winners to see the year out. Stay for Pizza and Drinks after the gig.
Julie Watts is a Western Australian writer and Counsellor/PlayTherapist and lives by the coast with her family. Julie is an active member of OOTA, a Fremantle based writing group. She has been published nationally and internationally in various journals and anthologies including: Westerly, Cordite, Rochford Street Review, and the Anthology of Contemporary Australian Feminist Poetry. She was shortlisted for the Montreal International Poetry Prize 2017, won The Blake Poetry Prize 2017 and The Dorothy Hewett Award 2018. Her second poetry collection, Legacy, was published in November by UWA Publishing.
Our second feature, Gabriel O’Sullivan says that “discovering poetry gives the ability to express the inner world of the poet. It is an art form which is delightful, and gives creative writing an amazingly personal voice, allowing the inner poet to speak. Gabriel is studying counsellor at ECU. He has competed at 3 slams and trialled for the poetry state team, going to Sydney this year. Gabriel is also an actor who performed at Kalamunda and Marloo theatre this year, touring the Mechanic of Venice. Gabriel also has a history as a two time member of the Australian gymnastics team, in 2014 where he competed in Austria and in Canada. He trialled for the Commonwealth games last year, and now focuses on coaching gymnastics.
Then the announcement of The CHRiku winners plus open-mike plus Pizza and Drinks after the gig.
