Our feature poet this Saturday 11th August 2018 is the entertaining Jackson.
This is the last chance to hear her as a feature before she goes to China for a year.
Jackson was born in Cumbria, England. Her poems have been published in many journals and anthologies, including the Fremantle Press Anthology of Western Australian Poetry. She has published two books, a chapbook, seven zines and a CD. Her third book, A coat of ashes, will be published by Recent Work Press next year. She is known across Australia as a poet and performer and has featured at many readings and festivals.
In 2009 she founded Perth Poetry Club with help from Helen Child, Coral Carter, Elio Novello, Neil J Pattinson, Helen Janis and others.
Since 2015 she has been a full-time student at Edith Cowan University, doing a PhD in Writing; her thesis is scheduled to be submitted on 8 August. She has two adult children, and has worked as a computer programmer, a charity telemarketer, a voluntary breastfeeding counsellor, and an unprofitably self-employed editor and writing teacher. She recently qualified to teach English as a second language, and in September she is going to China to work there for a year.
Her poetry website, thepoetjackson.com, is archived by the National Library.
Please join us at Perth Poetry Club for an entertaining Saturday afternoon 2pm–4pm at The Moon Café, 323 William Street Northbridge to hear Jackson. Open-mike as always.
