Saturday 17th February, Anne Elvey (Vic) + Emerson

This Saturday, it’s Anne Elvey and Emerson as our features on 17th February 2018 at Perth Poetry Club.

Anne Elvey is author of White on White (Cordite Books 2018) which was launched in Melbourne in January, Kin (Five Islands Press 2014) and This Flesh That You Know (Leaf Press 2015), and with Massimo D’Arcangelo and Helen Moore co-author of Intatto-Intact (La Vita Felice, 2017).  She is managing editor of Plumwood Mountain: An Australian Journal of Ecopoetry and Ecopoetics and chief editor at Melbourne Poets Union.  She lives on Boonwurrung Country in Seaford, Victoria, and holds honorary appointments at Monash University and University of Divinity.  She is interested in ways Australian poetry and ecocriticism can be informed by a decolonising ethic.

Is Emerson an American poet who led the transcendentalist movement of the mid-19th century, and seen as a champion of individualism and a prescient critic of the countervailing pressures of society?  He sounds like our Emerson, a young poet who started coming to Perth Poetry Club two years ago and who this Saturday does his first feature.  Moor details to come...

Please join us to hear Anne Elvey + Emerson, plus Open-mike, this Saturday afternoon 2pm-4pm at the Moon Café, 323 William Street Northbridge.

Guest MC is Mitchell Thompson.
