During Poetry Week, the City of Perth Library is pleased to present a lunchtime celebration of poetry, cello music and the craft of writing.

Kevin Gillam, Western Australian poet and cellist, will read some of his poems, perform selected movements from Bach’s Six Cello Suites, and discuss the interplay between notes written and notes heard. Poetry and music share much in common; flow, rhythm, meaning and expression. Audience members will be invited to read one of their own poems or a favourite piece of verse.

About Kevin Gillam

Kevin Gillam is a WA poet published by Sunline Press -Other Gravities (2003), Permitted to Fall (2007), and Fremantle Press - songs sul G in Two Poets (2011). He has also been published in numerous Australian and overseas journals including MeanjinOverlandWesterly, the Australian Literary Review and the Australian Book Review. He was the feature poet on Poetica (ABC Radio National), and presented at the Queensland Poetry Festival, Tasmanian Poetry Festival and the Big Sky Writers’ Festival. His poems have appeared in both Best Australian Poems and The Best Australian Poetry. His fourth volume entitled the moon’s reminder will be published in 2018 by Ginninderra Press. He works as a Director of Music at Christ Church Grammar School.
