Saturday 15th of April, Claire Potter and Wendy Beach!

It’s two wonderful poets Claire Potter and Wendy Beach, this Saturday 15th April 2017 at Perth Poetry Club.

Claire Potter (pictured right) received a Young Australian Poets Fellowship from the Poets Union in 2006. She has published a full length collection, Swallow (Five Islands Press) and two chapbooks with the Poets Union and Vagabond Press.  Her poetry has won the Tom Collins Poetry Prize twice, short-listed for five Premier’s Literary Awards, been translated into French and Chinese and anthologised widely, including Best Australian Poems 2016, Outcrop anthology by BlackRider, and the Fremantle Press Anthology of WA Poetry.  Most recently her poetry has been published in Poetry Chicago, Poetry Review Ireland and The Australian (last weekend) and shortlisted for the 2017 Keats-Shelley Poetry Prize, London.

Wendy Beach (pictured left) is a modern-formalist poet, or for those who don’t like formal poetry, a retro-poet, because everything retro is cool these days.  Wendy's poetry has been published in Creatrix, the Westerly, Uneven Floor and WA Shakespeare Clubs Anthology.  Her pieces have both won and placed twice in the ECU Talus Literary Prize.  ECU has printed her poetry as posters on its Mount Lawley campus as part of the 2016 & 2017 graduation ceremonies.  Wendy established the Belmont Writers Group in 2014.  Currently, she is the Submissions Manager for the Creatrix Haiku & Poetry Journal.
