Saturday 18th of March, Mathas and Don Smith!

It’s two great features, Mathas and Don Smith, this Saturday 18th March 2017 at Perth Poetry Club.

Mathas has somewhat cartoonishly rapped on stages around Australia for well over a decade. A locally loved visual artist, poet, producer and performer, Mathas spends an unhealthy amount of time pursuing detail in his lyricism. The subjects he chooses for his stories are often uncomfortable reflections on Australian society but he does his best to inject a bit of comedy into the code to lighten the mood.

His 2015 album ‘Armwrestling Atlas’ was nominated for the Australian Music Prize (AMP). He was also the first ever hiphop or electronic artist to win the WA Music Industry’s coveted Song of the Year Grand Prize with the song ‘Nourishment’ as well as consecutive WAMI Awards for Urban Act of the Year in 2012, 2013, 2014 and again in 2016.

He’s currently hiding away working on a new two-EP project. You may have also seen him working at The Moon.

Also featuring at the Club is Don Smith an actor, comedian, clown and belligerent non-committant.  For many years he's worked as a funny guy and funny singer, but these days he's been delving a little deeper and attempting to find something within himself.  While not performing, he is currently a full-time carer for his Dad, a role he finds delightful.

Please join us at The Moon Café 323 William Street Northbridge this Saturday 2pm-4pm to hear two talented poets, Mathas and Don Smith.  Open-mike as always.
