On 14 April Perth Poetry Club presents two women whose words speak for themselves -- Jo Clarke and Karen Murphy.
Josephine Clarke (left) writes short stories and poetry. She is an active member of Out of the Asylum Writers’ Group and helps run the 'Voicebox' monthly poetry readings. Her poems have recently been published in dotdotdash and Creatrix. Her poem pruning was commended in the 2011 Tom Collins Poetry Prize.
Karen Murphy (right) has a BA in Creative Writing from Curtin University, where she continues to study. She writes poetry and prose. She recently joined the Perth Poetry Club organising group (thanks Karen). She is the WA coordinator for Australian Poetry, co-chairperson of WA Poets Inc and publications manager of Creatrix. She helps coordinate the annual WA Poetry Festival. When she isn’t busy doing all that, she works as a freelance writer, publishing her poetry in Australian literary journals.
